چکیده

BACKGROUND: Visceral obesity in adolescent girls increased the risk of cardiometabolic disease. A simple indicator has been developed to assess metabolic through visceral adiposity index (VAI) and lipid accumulation product (LAP) people with obesity. AIM: This study analyzed relationship between VAI LAP insulin resistance (IR) syndrome (MS) obese female adolescents. METHODS: An observational was conducted on 120 students at Universitas Diponegoro. obtained from calculation formulations which includes body mass index, waist circumference (WC), triglycerides (TGs), High-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol. formulation include WC TGs. IR values were based homeostasis for assessment models IR. The score (cMetS) by components WC, blood pressure, fasting glucose, TG, HDL Bivariate analysis using Spearman Rank correlation test. RESULTS: We found that 40% subjects had a considered risk. As many as 20.8% experience MetS while other 79.2% are pre-metabolic 83.3% have experienced showed significant (p ? 0.001; r = 0.667) cMetS 0.007; p 0.245). < 0,001; 0,385) MS 0.372). CONCLUSION: could be an estimating adolescent.

Title Contribution of visceral adiposity and insulin resistance to metabolic

We investigated the relative impacts of visceral adiposity and insulin resistance on the metabolic risk profile in middle-aged Japanese men. A cross-sectional study was conducted in 636 nondiabetic Japanese men with a mean age of 51.6 years. Visceral adipose tissue (AT) was assessed using computed tomography and insulin resistance was determined by the homeostasis model assessment insulin resis...

Insulin resistance and metabolic syndrome are related to non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, but not visceral adiposity index, in severely obese patients.

The visceral adiposity index (VAI) is a marker of visceral fat distribution and dysfunction. Visceral adiposity is related to nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD); however, there is some controversy regarding the association between VAI and NAFLD.The aim of this study was to analyse the relationship between VAI and NAFLD and to describe the related factors in severely obese patients. A tota...

Background: Considering the limited population-based studies and lack of a general consensus on the most sensitive and precise predictor of insulin resistance and metabolic syndrome in the women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), the present study was performed with the aim of comparing the validity of various available adiposity markers in these patients. Methods: In the national and popul...

Point: visceral adiposity is causally related to insulin resistance.

Related to Insulin Resistance The relationship between obesity and insulin resistance, while well recognized for many years, has nonetheless been confusing since not all obese individuals have insulin resistance (1) and because insulin resistance occurs in individuals who have BMIs that are within the normal or mildly overweight categories (2). Early attempts to understand the relationships bet...

Counterpoint: visceral adiposity is not causally related to insulin resistance.

Causally Related to Insulin Resistance I t has been known for over half a century that accumulation of fat in the upper body is associated with metabolic complications of obesity. The mechanism responsible for this association is widely believed to be insulin resistance, which is frequently present in individuals with upper-body obesity (1) and is associated with increased cardiovascular risk (...
